Profile:
Visionary Women Entrepreneurs and Advisory Centre SACCO limited was founded by members of the Visionary Women Entrepreneurs and Advisory Centre Company Limited (VWEAC) as a financing arm with the ultimate aim of empowering members and growing the SACCO into a Women financing Bank. The fifty (50) Founding members were the former female members of the 10th Parliament who pulled resources together to the tune of five hundred million shillings to start the VWEAC SACCO. Currently, it has 60 members.
After studying the various models of accessing funds and other resources under the Laws of Uganda, the women leaders opted to use the Savings and Credit Cooperative model to mobilise and access resources, where members would own and manage the organisation in the best interest of the owners on one side, while members save and borrow at affordable rates on the other side, so as to be empowered economically and socially without any encumbrances of accessing funds from financial institutions and it associated challenges.
VWEAC SACCO is fully incorporated and registered by the Registrar of cooperatives and was officially launched on 16/8/2016. It has since acquired a permanent certificate to operate as a SACCO countrywide but based in Kampala.
